New England Aquarium crews work to save beached whale off Kingston (Massachussetts, USA)

Minke-whale-mud-MassachussettsNovember 23rd, 2015 (WHDH). KINGSTON, Mass. – A beached whale was discovered off the coast of Kingston on Monday afternoon.

According to the New England Aquarium, the Minke whale is a whale that lives year-found in New England and is seen frequently.

Officials are not sure what caused the whale to beach, but officials said the whale is alive and got stuck on a mud flat.

Access to the animal is poor, according to officials. The tide has since come in and the whale looks like it is able to swim.

Whales sometimes strand themselves if they are suffering from an underlying health issue or if it is a juvenile and was misdirected.
