Whale freed near Tromsoe by Norwegian Coast Guard

disentenglement-whale-NorwayDecember 7th, 2015.¬†Norway’s Coast Guard has conducted a rare operation to free a humpback whale which had become trapped by a rope.

The crew on board the KV Heimdal found the whale outside Kvaloeya (Whale Island) near Tromsoe, north Norway.

They spent five hours untangling the rope from around the whale’s mouth and body in order not to distress it too much.
