Have you seen J14 ? (Washington state, USA)

southern-killer-whales-pod-CanadaWednesday, August 31st, 2016. The killer whale known as J14 or Samish was last photographed by a Center for Whale Research staff member on August 3, 2016. When last seen by researchers  who were on the water on July 31, the 42-year-old female orca did not appear to be unhealthy.

The Center for Whale Research has had three encounters with Jpod since then and hasn’t seen J14. If they have one more encounter without spotting the whale they will list the whale as deceased.

According to the CWR website : J14 has three living offspring : daughters J37 and J40 and son J45, she is also grandmother to J37’s calf J49. J14 is the only known daughter of J12 and a possible descendant of J2.
