December 19, 2012. TWO dead bottlenose whales have washed up on Evans Beach, just south of Robe in South Australia’s south-east.

Robe residents say the carcasses have been on the beach for at least two days.

Luke Hann from the Robe Hotel said he first heard the whale carcasses had washed ashore on Monday.

“It’s a been a bit of an attraction the last couple of days, a few locals have been down to sus it all out,” he said.

“They said their skin is pretty cut up because they were washed across the reef to get where they are.

“I think coming into peak tourist season on two of our most popular surf beaches, they’d have to get rid of them somehow.”

South Australian Museum mammel experts and Robe Council are investigating the find at Little Dip Conservation Park.
